Why Do I Need Orientation?

Orientation 2009 is your opportunity to “ensure” your success

Registration Instructions College is very different from the work-a-day world or from high school, and getting started on the right foot is important. Orientation 2009 offers a relaxed atmosphere in which to get acclimated and to start your Alfred State career.

Making a rapid transition is important. The faculty and staff at Alfred State want you to succeed! Your active participation in Orientation 2009 offers you a head start on meeting key people in your academic area, recognizing the academic requirements of your curriculum, and getting to know the campus. These are big steps on the road to success!

Many students have never been away from home for an extended period of time. Orientation 2009 offers you the opportunity to meet new friends and participate in activities before classes start, which helps make the transition smoother.

For students attending classes on the Alfred Campus (Management & Engineering Technology and Arts & Sciences), one of the main components of your day will be to schedule your fall semester classes.

For students attending classes on the Wellsville Campus (Applied Technology) a session on the Wellsville Campus with the Academic Dean and Student Services personnel along with an opportunity to see various tool vendors is scheduled. You will receive an outline of your fall class schedule and many staff integral to your success will be available to answer your questions.

A special note to transfer students: Perhaps you have already been to college. Not all colleges are the same and Orientation 2009 will help you to become aware of the way Alfred State does business. Please make sure that all appropriate transcripts are provided in advance so that you may depart Alfred State with your complete fall semester schedule.

Be there!
