Juniors and Sophomores

Thank you for your interest in Alfred State College.

Alfred State offers over 70 academic majors in the areas of applied technology, management and engineering technology , and liberal arts and sciences. Depending on the specific major, you can earn a four-year baccalaureate degree, a two-year associate's degree or a one-year certificate.

  • You take classes in your major beginning with their first semester.
  • Faculty members have industry experience and bring real-world experiences to the classroom
  • You are taught by faculty members, not graduate students.
  • You have the benefit of studying in small classes -20 students average.

As a junior or sophomore, it's important that you continue to take the most challenging high school classes, including as much math and science as possible.

Now is also the time to start thinking about possible careers if you haven't already done so. Your school counselor can suggest ways for researching career options or go to our Academic Programs page.
