Install Workshop
Class dates: Tuesday, Aug. 10 – Friday, Aug. 13, 2010
Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day
In this theory and hands-on installations course, you will learn solar site analysis, design layout, and installation of photovoltaic (PV, solar electric) systems. This course will lead the beginner student to and understanding of PV systems and their components as well as the integration into the electrical system of a utility (grid intertie) home. This particular installation will offset total energy consumption of the Friendship Garden and Arbor House for the US National Arboretum. In this unique workshop students will work and learn alongside of not only an Alfred State Instructor but also the students and graduates. A team of students and Graduates from the Electrical Construction and Maintenance Program will assist and advise the complete installation. By the week’s end, the participant will have assisted in installing a 4kW Grid Intertie system. Additionally, participants can remain both involved and connected tracking the production and cost benefits of the system via an online data monitoring system further connecting them to the Green technology available to residential contractors, homeowners and gardeners.
