Under Merry’s guidance, and thanks to the hands-on training he received in his program, Jury, a welding technology student from New Windsor, fabricated a collapsible, three-burner brew stand for D’Arcy for his senior project.
US Rep. Tom Reed, R-Corning, recently held his fourth annual Manufacturing Summit at the Alfred State Lake Lodge. The event, which drew more than 100 local manufacturers, allowed businesses to connect with and learn from experts and colleagues within the manufacturing industry.
Over the last decade, several Alfred State engineering students have lent their skills and know-how to The Bicycle Man, LLC, a full-service bicycle and recumbent bike shop in Alfred Station.
Emily Erdmann, an Alfred State senior drafting/CAD major from Whitesville, has recently been named a 2015-2016 Vanguard Student Recognition Award winner.
Dr. Craig Clark, executive director of the Wellsville campus and dean of the School of Applied Technology, said, “These funds for machinery and equipment for the new facility will assure Alfred State will teach the advanced technology required by manufacturers across the region.”
Attending the groundbreaking were representatives of elected officials, faculty and staff, students, and local government and community leaders.
