The development of the new Center is underway. Planning has been initiated to design the facilities that will house the Center. Faculty are in the beginning stages of the 3-year process to have our facilities certified organic by the USDA. The Alfred State Center will house the only organic dairy herd planned for a public facility in New York State. An expert in organic crop production, Dr. Matt Harbur, was added to our faculty. Dr. Harbur is developing a new Bachelor's degree in Organic Agriculture, which we plan to submit to officials in SUNY for their consideration. The organic cows will move into their new home in August 2009.
