Leadership and Evaluation

The Center for Organic and Sustainable Agriculture (COSA) is a part of the Alfred State College Institute for Sustainability, led by Executive Director, Dr. Brian Baker.

COSA's development and operation are decided by a planning committee comprised of experienced members the Alfred State College Agriculture and Veterinary Technology Department, including Department Chair Victoria Bolton, and veterinarians Dr. Melvin Chambliss and Dr. Dorothea Fitzsimmons. Dairy Farm Manager Peter Chatain and Pioneer Farm Manager Jennifer Kuhn also serve on the COSA planning committee. Ex officio members of the COSA planning committee include Alfred State College's vice president of academic affairs, the dean of arts and sciences and director of capital projects.

COSA also relies on an advisory board comprised of farmers, conservationists, animal welfare advocates, researchers, business people, and community leaders. The advisory board provides guidance for COSA's direction consistent with the Alfred State College strategic plan and the needs of the community.
