Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor
The program provides training for those who wish to maintain or begin a career in the field of alcohol and chemical dependency counseling. Special efforts are made to assist participants meeting or exceeding the educational requirements set forth by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) for the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) designation and the Credentialed Prevention Professional (CCP) and Credentialed Prevention Specialist (CPS). Summer 2013 Training Schedule
Courses are taught at Alfred State and are $50 per person per course. Please contact the Center for Community Education and Training at (607) 587-4015 for information on registration, payment, and to see if your agency can qualify for special pricing.
June 17, 1 – 4 p.m., Working with the Resistant/Violent Client
Students will gain the necessary information and skills that will better prepare them to intervene and respond to the resistance, potentially violent, and violent client behaviors to improve treatment outcomes, communication, and the safety of staff and clients.

Students gain an understanding of the balance of work and home life while working in the helping field.

Students gain up to date knowledge for addiction counselors on dealing with clients multiple disorders.
