Things Guests Need to Know

Parents, here are some things you need to know about Commencement

Please come prepared for an outdoor ceremony; Alfred weather can be extreme and unpredictable. Umbrella use in the provided seating areas is discouraged. Please be courteous of other guests. A concession stand will be available, offering a continental breakfast menu as well as Campus Store imprinted items. For those unable to attend the ceremony, a live streaming broadcast will be available.

Have a seat

  • Admission begins at 11:30 a.m. and you will not need tickets to be admitted into the stadium. There is no guest limit, however seating is available on a “first-come, first-seated” basis; you can bring folding lawn chairs or those chairs with one inch (minimum size) diameter flat-bottomed feet, but they are not allowed on the track.

Where to park

  • Parking will be on a “first-come, first-served” basis, and although there are parking lots adjacent to the Commencement site, these lots will fill quickly. However, you can park in any of the faculty and staff, students, and visitors lots on campus.
  • Lot #18 and Lot #19 will have available parking for vehicles with government-issued handicapped permits or a permit issued by the University Police for the day. Once those lots are filled, individuals will be dropped off near the Commencement site, but parking will not be allowed there.
  • A free shuttle service will run from the parking lots to the Commencement site. The shuttle will stop at designated bus stops along the campus loop.
