Dr. Stephen J. Havlovic
Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dr. Stephen J. Havlovic, an educator with a strong background in human resources and developing partnerships with international and domestic institutions of higher education, was hired June 1, 2010.
Most recently, Havlovic served as the dean of the School of Business at SUNY Institute of Technology (Utica/Rome) as well as professor of human resource management. In this role, he was responsible for managing the School of Business’ academic degree programs, its $3.2 million budget, 23 faculty (30 FTE), 700 students, and accreditation. He led the successful AACSB International accreditation initiative, established area coordinators, the learning assurance committee, and continuous improvement processes as well as obtained funding for a financial trading room. He negotiated more than 30 transfer articulation agreements with feeder colleges.
Havlovic has also served in administrative and teaching capacities at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater; Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, British Columbia); and the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. Havlovic has also held international visiting academic appointments at the Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille (France) and DePaul University (Poland & Czechoslovakia).
Havlovic holds a PhD from Ohio State University with a major in labor and human resources and a minor in industrial and organizational psychology; an MLHR from Ohio State University in industrial relations and personnel management; and a BA from Ohio State University in economics.
As provost & vice president for Academic Affairs, Havlovic is responsible for a 250-member professional staff, including 150 faculty. He also oversees the college’s three schools: Arts and Sciences, Management and Engineering Technology, and Applied Technology, as well as a $10 million annual budget.
