Debra Root

Senior Director of Marketing and Communications

Debra Root, senior director of marketing and communications, is responsible for the integration of public relations, marketing communications, e-media, and media relations among all areas of the College with special emphasis on the offices of Institutional Advancement, Career Services, and the Center for Community Education and Training (CCET) with a goal to help ASC achieve national prominence. She also supervises the Document Center which provides printing and mailing services for the campus community.

Root was hired in 2001 as a graphic design coordinator. Prior to joining the Alfred State College staff, she served as marketing communications coordinator for Dresser-Rand, and as marketing communications manager at Air Preheater, both in Wellsville, NY.

Root holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from Rochester Institute of Technology where she majored in communications design; she also holds a master of professional studies degree in community services administration from Alfred University.

Root serves as vice president and board member for the Allegany County United Way.
