Alfred State College is celebrating, and we want you to join in the fun!
2007-08 marks the 100th anniversary of the NYS School of Agriculture at Alfred University which was established May 8, 1908, when NYS Gov. Charles Evans Hughes signed a bill creating what has evolved into Alfred State College.
We are excited and honored to have reached this milestone and have planned a year-long celebration, encompassing a variety of activities, including participation in local parades, a display of historical photos at Steuben Trust in Hornell throughout the month of August; the return of the "Taste of Wellsville" on the School of Applied Technology campus during Family Weekend, Sat. Oct. 6; as well as the return of the Children's Festival that same Saturday in Alfred. A display will be mounted in the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce window during the month of November. An "official" kick-off dinner, welcoming alumni as well as present and former faculty and staff will be held in November with the release of a new ASC history book and a "signing" by the book's authors. A fun-filled and educational day is planned for Thursday, May 8, 2008, on campus where academic departments will highlight their various programs.
And these events are just the beginning! Keep checking our Web site for updates on events.
