CDL training will provide 35 hours of classroom instruction and up to 35 hours of highway and city drive time, one-on-one with the instructor.
Students will learn vehicle inspection, airbrakes, backing, slips, trips and falls, eye on defensive driving, accidents and breakdowns, speed and space management, log books and much more to be fully prepared to take the Department of Motor Vehicle road test. The cost of the road test is included in the cost of the program (may take the test one additional time if needed) and will be scheduled by the instructor. The road test will be taken with the Alfred State vehicle. Students must have a CDL permit and a DOT physical (pdf) before entering the course.

Drive Time Dates
Course instructor and students will set drive dates between Sept. 11 – Dec. 8.
Each student is required to be at least 18 years of age, hold a CDL class B permit with air brake endorsement, and submit a copy of their DOT physical prior to the start of the training. All the above must be provided to the Center for Community Education and Training at least one week prior to the start of the training.
