Kraus and Pierce Named ASC Athletes of the Week

Sophomore volleyball player Meghan Kraus (Trumansburg) and sophomore soccer player Holli Pierce (Livonia) have been named the ASC athletes of the week by the SID office.

Kraus averaged 2.88 kills per game in the Lady Pioneers four matches this week. She finished the week with 46 kills, 47 digs, and a team high 12 service aces.  ASC was 2-2 this past week and is 14-10 overall and 9-5 in Region III Division III play.

Lady Pioneers Record 8th shutout

The #8 ranked Alfred State College women's soccer team downed Cayuga CC 4-0 to record their eighth shutout of the season.  ASC is now 9-2 on the season and have alllowed just three goals on the year.

Jenna Lynn (York) got the Pioneers on the board after getting a pass from Megan Votava (Alfred Almond).  Taylor Dezio (Marion) made it 2-0 when she found the back of the net with the assist going to Kerri Bellavia (Greece Athena).

Pierce Scores Winner in Double OT

Holli Pierce (Livonia) scored 4:02 into the 2nd overtime to lift Alfred State to a 1-0 victory over Erie CC on Thursday evening.  The win improves the #8 Lady Pioneers to 8-2 on the season and 7-2 in Region III Division III play.

Pierce's goal, her third of the season, came after a long throw in by Lacee Pearl (Olean) that flew over the defense.  Pierce was one-on-one with the goalie and headed the ball past the keeper.

Lady Pioneers Crack Top Ten

The Alfred State College women's soccer team has cracked into the top ten of the lastest NJCAA Division III poll. The Lady Pioneers debut in the poll with the #8 ranking.

The Pioneers entered the week with a 7-1 mark and a 6-1 record in Region III Division III play.  They are joined in the poll by four other Region III schools.  Finger Lakes CC is #3, ASC is #8, Broome CC is #9, and Onondaga CC is #10.  Ocean County College is #1 followed by Holyoke CC.

Win Streak Snapped

The six-game winning streak of the Alfred State College women's soccer team was snapped by Jamestown Olean.  The Jaguars defeated ASC 1-0.

JCC-Olean scored the lone goal of the contest with 26:52 remaining in the 2nd half.  ASC held to a 9 to 7 shot on goal advantage.  Simone Delaney (Canisteo Greenwood) made six saves for the Pioneers.

ASC is now 7-2 on the season and 6-2 in Region III Division III play.

Alfred State returns to action on Thursday when they return to Pioneer Stadium for a 6 p.m. contest with Erie CC.

The Alfred State College women's soccer team fired 42 shots as they defeated Niagara CCC 7-0 to win their sixth straight.  ASC built a 5-0  halftime lead en route to improving their record to 7-1 on the year.

The Alfred State College women's soccer team defeated #7 Broome CC 1-0 to register their 5th shutout of the season.  ASC improves to 6-1 (5-1 Region III Division III) while BCC falls to 4-1.

Holli Pierce (Livonia) scored the lone goal of the contest unassisted just over five minutes into the 2nd half.

ASC fired 17 shots (10 on goal) while BCC finished with 10 shots with Simone Delaney (Canisteo Greenwood) making eight saves to earn the win.

Delaney and Smith Named ASC Athletes of the Week

Soccer goalies Simone Delaney (Canisteo Greenwood) and Nick Smith (Arkport) have been named the ASC Athletes of the Week selected by the Sports Information office.

Delaney recorded two shutout victories for the Lady Pioneers.  She made two saves in a 4-0 win at Jamestown CC and made eight saves in a 4-0 win at Mercyhurst North East.  Heading into action on Tuesday evening she was 4-1 in net with a 0.20 goals against average.

The Alfred State College women's soccer team earned their 3rd straight shutout and 4th of the season on Saturday with a 4-0 road victory over Mercyhurst North East.  ASC is now 4-1 and has allowed just one goal.

Holli Pierce (Livonia) started the scoring with 24:31 remaining in the 2nd half after getting a pass from Jenna Lynn (York).  Lynn made it 2-0 just over two minutes later after getting a pass from Pierce.
