Lady Pioneers suffer first defeat

Tompkins Cortland CC scored three goals in the final 16 minutes of the contest to down Alfred State 4-1 in a Region III Division III match-up played under the lights in Dryden.  The Lady Pioneers are now 2-1 on the year while TCCC improves to 2-3.

The Lady Panthers held a 1-0 at half but Jessie Smith (Fredonia) knotted it up with a goal in the second half after getting a pass from Shelby Winchester (Maple Grove).

Women's soccer defeats Delhi

Brittany Hannah (Eastridge) netted a hat trick as Alfred State's women's soccer team came away with a 5-1 victory against SUNY Delhi on Saturday. 

Brittany Hannah (Eastridge) netted a hat trick as Alfred State's women's soccer team came away with a 5-1 victory against SUNY Delhi on Saturday. 

Hannah scored her goals on assists from Kassandra Durant (Ilion), Shelby Winchester (Maple Grove) and Jessie Smith (Fredonia).  Smith also scored a goal for the Lady Pios on an assist from Emma Pollok (Fredonia).  Theresa Hubbel (Bishop Kearney) also scored with some help from Winchester.

Lady Pioneers shut out Corning in Opener

The Alfred State College women's soccer team opened up the 2008 season with an impressive 7-0 victory at Corning CC on Thursday.  Six different Lady Pioneers found the back of the net in the victory.

The Alfred State College women's soccer team opened up the 2008 season with an impressive 7-0 victory at Corning CC on Thursday.  Six different Lady Pioneers found the back of the net in the victory.

Jessie Smith (Fredonia) scored a goal and passed out an assist in each half to pace Alfred's offense.  Theresa Hubbel (Bishop Kearney) tallied a goal and assist.

Athletes Begin to Report this Week

The 2008-09 Alfred State College athletic season kicks off this week as preseason camps open in preparation for the fall seasons.  Football, volleyball, men's & women's soccer, and baseball will all report to campus and begin practice by Sunday while the cross country team will begin practicing on Tuesday.

Eight Pioneers Earn Academic All-American Honors

Eight Alfred State College athletes have earned NJCAA Academic All-Americans for excellence in the classroom.  Cal Ayers (Letchworth), Keenan Hall (Monticello), Kaila Smith (Alfred Almond), Dustin Falkner (Letchworth), and Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA) were all named Distinguished Academica All-Americans while Kevin Underhill (Somers), Paul Farrell (St. Francis), and Sarah Palmiter (Alfred Almond) were named All-American.

Three Lady Pioneers named All-WNYAC

Alfred State College women's soccer players Brittany Hannah (Eastridge), Jody Ninos (Alfred Almond), and Kaila Smith (Alfred Almond) have been honored by being named All-WNYAC.  Hannah and Ninos were 1st team selections while Smith was named to the 2nd team.

Lady Pioneers fall to Delhi

The Alfred State College women's soccer team fell 5-1 to SUNY Delhi in a 1st round Region III Division III contest on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Pioneers end their season 7-8-1 while the Lady Broncos advance to the quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon.

The Alfred State College women’s soccer team fell 5-1 to SUNY Delhi in a 1st round Region III Division III contest on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Pioneers end their season 7-8-1 while the Lady Broncos advance to the quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon.

Delhi took a 2-0 in the 1st half after out-shooting Alfred 10 to 9.

The Broncos added another goal before Brittany Hannah (Eastridge) scored after getting a pass from Jody Ninos to make it 3-1.  Delhi added two more goals to seal the victory.

Lady Pioneers earn #11 seed

The Alfred State College women's soccer team has earned the #11 seed in the Region III Division III Tournament after a 7-7-1 regular season.  The Lady Pioneers will travel to #6 SUNY Delhi (10-4-1) on Saturday for a first round contest at 1 p.m.

Lady Pioneers fall to Herkimer

The Alfred State College women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Herkimer CCC in their final regular season contest.  The Lady Pioneers finish the regular season with a 7-7-1 record (6-6-1 in Region III Division III play).

Diana Gentile recorded a hat trick to pace the General offense.  Megan Richards scored the final goal for HCCC who improves to 11-3 on the season.  Herkimer led 2-0 at the half.

Philicia Harris (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) made nine saves in net.  ASC was outshot 19 to 1 in the contest.
