Women's Soccer Sixth in Latest NJCAA Poll

The Alfred State women's soccer team remains ranked sixth in the latest NJCAA national poll.  This is the fourth consecutive week that the Lady Pioneers are ranked in the Top 10.

Lady Pioneers Advance

The Alfred State College women's soccer team scored two early goals and went on for a 3-1 victory over SUNY Delhi in a Region III Division III B Semifinal. With the win the Lady Pioneers advance to the Region III B finals on Saturday vs. Broome CC.

Brittany Hannah (Eastridge) scored just under two minutes into the game to get ASC on the board. Hannah found Jessie Smith (Fredonia) at 37:04 of the 1st half to make it 2-0.

Emma Pollok (Fredonia) found the back of the net for the first time this season on a long shot that was just out of reach of the Bronco goalie.

Women's Soccer to take on Delhi

The Alfred State College women's soccer team will take on SUNY Delhi in the Region III B Semifinals.  The Lady Bronos defeated JCC-Olean 3-0 in the quaterfinal match-up on Saturday afternoon in Delhi.

The semifinal match will be played at Alfred State at 5 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.  The winner of the match will take on the winner of the #2 Broome CC and Mohawk Valley CC contest on Saturday October 25.

ASC, currently 10-4-1 and ranked #6 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, defeated Delhi 5-1 in their second game of the season.

Q & A with Audrey Rath

Audrey Rath (Medina) has been a defensive specialist playing almost every minute of the Alfred State College soccer season.  Rath has put six shots on net and has been credited with one assist on the season.  More importantly she has played sweeper for a defensive unit that has allowed just 16 goals in 15 games on the season.  The Lady Pioneers ended the regular season with a 10-4-1 mark and will host a Regional semifinal game on Tuesday.  Rath sat down and answered a few questions from the sports information office.

The Alfred State College women's soccer team stayed in the NJCAA Division III poll for the third straight week and moved up a spot to #6.  The Lady Pioneers finished the regular season with a 10-4-1 overall mark and a 9-3-1 record versus Region III Division III competition.

The Alfred State College women's soccer team has earned the #3 seed in the upcoming Region III Division III Tournament.  With the #3 seed the Lady Pioneers will have a bye in the quarterfinal round and will host a semifinal match-up versus the winner of the #6 SUNY Delhi and #12 JCC-Olean quarterfinal round contest on Tuesday October 21.

Mary Butlak found the back of the net with 1:51 remaining in double overtime to lift Finger Lakes CC to a 2-1 victory in the regular season finale for both teams.  The Lady Pioneers, ranked #7 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll will head into the playoffs with a 10-3-1 (9-2-1 Region III Division III record) while the Lady Lakers, #4 in the NJCAA Division III poll, improve to 18-0-1.

The Alfred State women's soccer team used a strong defensive effort to defeat Herkimer CCC on Saturday 2-1.

Shelby Winchester (Maple Grove) scored five minutes into the game.  Brittany Hannah (Eastridge) then scored with 13 minutes left in the first half off an assist from Jessie Smith (Fredonia) to take the Lady Pioneers into halftime with a 2-0 lead.  Herkimer cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Nichole Earl (New Paltz) seven minutes into the second half.  Alfred State was able to hold off a strong second half push by the Lady Generals to secure the 2-1 victory.

The Alfred State College women's soccer team had their eight game unbeaten streak snapped in a 1-0 loss at Monroe CC on Thursday afternoon.  The Lady Pioneers, ranked #7 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, are now 9-3-1 overall on the season and 8-2-1 in Region III Division III play.

Men's and Women's Soccer Teams both ranked in Top 10

The Alfred State women's soccer team moved up two spots in the national rankings this week and are now ranked 7th.  The men's soccer team also improved in the polls this week moving up one spot to 10th.

The women finished the week with a 3-0 mark while not allowing a goal all week.  The Lady Pioneers defeated JCC-Olean 2-0, Erie CC 2-0, and Cayuga CC 4-0.  The Lady Pioneer offense was led by Brittany Hannah (Eastridge) and Jessie Smith (Fredonia) who each scored three goals and one assist this week.  Smith now has 12 goals on the season while Hannah has 11.
