Lady Pioneers Down Genesee

The Alfred State women's basketball team raced out to a 26 point lead in the 1st half en route to a 78-53 victory over Genesee CC in a key Region III Division II battle.  The Lady Pioneers are now 11-8 overall and 2-3 in RIII DII contests.

The Alfred State women's basketball team raced out to a 26 point lead in the 1st half en route to a 78-53 victory over Genesee CC in a key Region III Division II battle.  The Lady Pioneers are now 11-8 overall and 2-3 in RIII DII contests.

The Lady Pioneers used a press defense that forced 37 Lady Cougar turnovers.  The game also had 55 fouls called which resulted in 73 foul shots.  Alfred State was 14 for 17 from the line in the 1st half and finished the day 20 for 31 while GCC was just 21 for 42 from the charity stripe.

Jamestown Sneaks Past Lady Pioneers

The Alfred State women's basketball team played another tight Region III Division II contest and fell 57-54 at Jamestown CC on Thursday.  The Lady Pioneers are now 10-8 overall and 1-3 in RIII DII action.

The Alfred State women's basketball team played another tight Region III Division II contest and fell 57-54 at Jamestown CC on Thursday.  The Lady Pioneers are now 10-8 overall and 1-3 in RIII DII action.

Camille Romero (Queens Village/Mary Louis) and Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) each finished with 12 points each.  Witchella also grabbed 10 rebounds and registered five blocks.  Amie Brooks (Pavilion) chipped in 11, Ardaisha Hudson (Brooklyn/Food & Finance) had 10, and Nuri Bey (Bronx/HS of Computers & Technology) had eight points.

Brooks and Hunt Named Athletes of the Week

Mercyhurst North East connected on four of six foul shots in the final two minutes as they broke a 60-60 tie to earn a 64-60 win over Alfred State on Saturday. The contest featured five ties and seven lead changes.

Lady Pioneers Race Past Thunderwolves

Twelve different Lady Pioneers scored and three finished in double figures as Alfred State defeated Niagara CCC 87-45 to improve to 10-6 on the season (1-1 Region III Division II).

Camille Romero (Queens Village/Mary Louis) led the way for the blue & gold with 24 points on 10 for 20 shooting.  Amie Brooks (Pavilion) finished with 17 points and Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) chipped in 12 points and seven boards.  Nuri Bey (Bronx/HS of Computers & Technology) came off the bench and finished with eight points.

The Alfred State women's basketball team hung tough versus Monroe CC but fell 83-55 to the NJCAA Division I power.  The Lady Pioneers are now 9-6 on the season.

The Lady Pioneers were led by Amie Brooks' (Pavilion) 22 points.  She was 9 for 15 from the field.  Camille Romero (Queens Village/Mary Louis) chipped in 10 points, Ardaisha Hudson (Brooklyn/Food & Finance) added eight, and Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) had seven points.

Lady Pioneers Drop Wild Contest

The Alfred State College women's basketball team opened up Region III Division II play with a wild contest that was back and forth and needed five extra minutes to determine a winner.  After 45 minutes, Erie CC escaped the Orvis Activities Center with a 68-66 win over the Lady Pioneers.

Lady Pioneers open up 2012 with Win

The Alfred State College women's basketball team got back on the court for the first time in over a month with a 64-46 victory at Pitt-Titusville on Thursday.  The Lady Pioneers are now 9-4 on the season heading into their WNYAC opener on Saturday.

Parker and Race Named ASC Athletes of the Week

Sophomore basketball player Pat Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) and freshman wrestler Zach Race (Fulton/G Ray Bodley) have been named the ASC Athletes of the Week by the SID office.

Sophomore basketball player Pat Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) and freshman wrestler Zach Race (Fulton/G Ray Bodley) have been named the ASC Athletes of the Week by the SID office.

Parker netted a career high 31 points in the Pioneers lone contest of the week at #20 CC of Beaver County.  He was 11 for 25 from the field and 5 for 15 from three in the contest.  He also grabbed seven rebounds and was credited with four steals.  It was the 5th time this season Parker scored more than 20 points in a contest.

Lady Pioneers Cap 2011 with Victory

The Alfred State College women's basketball team defeated University of Rochester JV 60-53 to improve to 8-4 as they wrap up the 2011 portion of the season.

The Alfred State College women's basketball team defeated University of Rochester JV 60-53 to improve to 8-4 as they wrap up the 2011 portion of the season.

Sophomores Amie Brooks (Pavilion), Camille Romero (Queens Village), and Nuri Bey (Bronx/HS of Computers & Technology) led the way for the blue & gold.  Brooks finished with 23 points and six assists, Romero had 14 points and seven assists, and Bey recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Paige Aleski led U of R with 14 points while Katie Weiner finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
