Alfred State softball player Shelby Freligh (Auburn/Union Springs), women's basketball player Carriola Chambers (Manhattan/Facing History), and football player Colter Johnson (Warren, PA) were named the recipients of the Daniel J. Neverett Sportsmanship at the athletic department's annual award ceremony.

Alfred State women's basketball player Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) has been named a 2nd team NJCAA Division II All-American. Witchella is the fifth Lady Pioneer since 2007 to earn All-American honors (Brittney Brooks - 2009, Anthia Smith & Tiffany McLaughlin - 2008, and Nichole Tyler - 2007).

The Alfred State women's basketball team took home the top two honors at the Region III Division II Tournament. Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) was named the RIII DII Player of the Year and Gina Boyd was named the Coach of the Year.
The Alfred State women's basketball team took home the top two honors at the Region III Division II Tournament. Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) was named the RIII DII Player of the Year and Gina Boyd was named the Coach of the Year. Sophomores Camille Romero (Queens Village), Amie Brooks (Pavilion), and Nuri Bey (Bronx/HS of Computers & Technology) were also honored with spots on the All-Region team.
The Alfred State women's basketball team could never get the offense going and fell 58-49 to Jamestown CC in the Region III Division II semifinals. The 49 points tied the team's season low.

The Lady Pioneers shot just 18.4% from the field in the 1st half and trailed 23-16 at the break. The offense picked up for Alfred State but the team could never climb closer than six points in the 2nd half. JCC led by as many as 14.

Witchella 15 for 25 (1 for 1 from three) and scored a career high 34 points in the Lady Pioneers 86-74 victory over Genesee CC. She also grabbed 26 rebounds (14 offensive) and blocked six shots.

She scored 34 points, grabbed 26 rebounds, and blocked six shots in a win at Genesee CC and recorded 12 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks in a win vs. Jamestown CC. Withchella is averaging 16.8 ppg this season and 11.1 rpg for the 18-8 Lady Pioneers.

As expected, the Alfred State women's basketball team will be the #2 seed in the Region III Division II in this week's tournament. The Lady Pioneers ended the regular season with a 18-8 overall mark and a 7-3 record in RIII DII.

The Alfred State women's basketball team clinched the #2 seed in the Region III Division II Tournament with a total team victory, 62-56 over Jamestown CC. The Lady Pioneers are now winners of eight straight and are 18-8 overall (7-3 RIII DII).

The Lady Pioneers led 29-19 at half and led by as many as 14 in the 2nd half but the Jayhawks rallied and cut the lead to three numerous times but could never get any closer. Alfred's poor shooting from the foul line (15 for 28) kept JCC in the contest.
