Men's Soccer Wins Fifth Straight

The Alfred State College men's soccer team won their fifth straight game 3-1 over Erie CC at Pioneer Stadium on Thursday afternoon.  The Pioneers improve to 6-4 (5-3 Region III Division III) with the win.

After a scoreless first half, ASC got on the board 4:17 into the second half when Kevin Arilotta (Churchville) found the back of the net after get a pretty crossing pass from Koya Takadama (Fukushima, Japan).  Caleb Drake (Jasper Trouspburg) netted his first of the season to make it 2-0 with 8:45 remaining on a long shot that found the back corner of the net.

Early Goal Lifts Pioneers past Blazers

Masanari Yamamoto (Tokyo, Japan) cashed in on a penalty kick four minutes into the game to lift Alfred State to a 1-0 homecoming victory over Niagara CCC.  The blue & gold climb over .500 with the victory and are now 5-4 on the year.

The Pioneers held a 15 to 4 shot advantage and held the ball on their side of the field for a majority of the game.  Dan Krajcir (Gloversville) made one save to record the shutout.

ASC returns to action on Thursday when they host Erie CC at 4 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium.

Men's Soccer Wins OT Thriller

The Alfred State College men's soccer team scored rallied for a 2-1 overtime victory over Broome CC on Thursday afternoon.  Justin Handley (Iroquois) netted the game winner with 1:46 remaining in the first overtime to run the Pioneers winning streak to three games.

After a scoreless first half, Jordan Oakley got the Hornets on the board with a pretty goal with 21:07 remaining.

The Pioneers knotted the game up with just 4:04 remaining in regulation when Eric Cline (WT Clarke) found Yuji Ueno (Tokyo, Japan) who put the ball past the Hornet keeper.

The Alfred State College men's soccer team won their second straight and third in their last four games with a 1-0 victory over Mercyhurst North East on Saturday.  The Pioneers improve to 3-4 on the season.

Nana Owusu-Obeng (Yonkers/Gorton) found the back of the net for the Pioneers lone goal of the game.  He scored after getting the set up pass from Kevin Arilotta (Churchville).

The coaching staff credited Arilotta and Eric Cline (WT Clarke) with solid games that were key to the victory.

Yamamoto scored after getting a pass from Steven Hickey (Aquinas).  Dan Krajcir (Gloversville) recorded his second shutout of the season by making six saves.

The Pioneers hit the road again on Saturday when they travel to Mercyhurst North East for a 3 p.m tilt with the Saints.

Men's Soccer Falls to Bryant & Stratton

The Alfred State College men's soccer team played tough versus NJCAA Division I Bryant & Stratton but could not find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss on Tuesday evening at Pioneer Stadium.  The loss drops the Pioneers to 1-4 on the year.

Oleg Yatsishin and Sergey Molchanovich found the back of the net in the first half to account for the Bobcat scoring.

Dan Krajcir (Gloversville) and Louis Balbuena each made five saves in their respective nets.

The blue & gold head to Corning CC on Thursday for a 4 p.m. contest with the Red Barons.

The Alfred State College men's soccer was able to get the offense going and downed Jefferson CC 2-0 to register their first victory of the 2009 season.  ASC is now 1-3 on the season.

The Pioneers got goals from Jason Durst (Gates Chili) and Koya Takadama (Fukushima, Japan) while Daniel Krajcir (Gloversville) made two saves for the shutout.  Kevin Arilotta (Churchville Chili) and Caleb Drake (Jasper Troupsburg) were credited with assists.

Late Goal lifts FLCC past Pioneers

Finger Lakes CC's Ryan Phillips capitalized a great corner kick with 6:19 left in regulation to lift the Lakers to a 1-0 victory over Alfred State at Pioneer Stadium on Thursday afternoon.  FLCC improves to 3-2-2 on the season while ASC falls to 0-3.

Alfred State had a few chances early on but Shane Conley made excellent saves to keep the game scoreless.  He finished the shutout victory with 10 saves.

Daniel Krajcir (Gloversville) made five saves in goal for the Pioneers.

Men’s Soccer falls to Delhi

The Alfred State College men’s soccer team fell 2-1 to SUNY Delhi on day one of the East-West Showdown at Hudson Valley CC.

The Alfred State College men’s soccer team fell 2-1 to SUNY Delhi on day one of the East-West Showdown at Hudson Valley CC. 

The Broncos scored a goal in each half to build a 2-0 lead.  Kevin Arilotta (Churchville Chili) cut the lead to 2-1 in the 67th minute but the Pioneers could not get any closer.  Arilotta’s goal was set up by Matt Kooy (Caledonia Mumford).

ASC out-shot Delhi 18 to 13 on the day.  Daniel Krajcir (Gloversville) made eight saves in net for the blue & gold.
