Curran Scores OT Winner

Colby Curran (Alfred Almond) scored with 6:40 remaining in the 2nd overtime as Alfred State defeated Mercyhurst North East 1-0.  ASC is now won two in a row and is 2-2-1 on the season.

Curran's first career goal came after getting a pass from Keita Suzuki (Yokohoma, Japan).  The shot was the Pioneers 14th on goal and 20th of the game.

MNE fired 27 shots on goal with Nick Smith (Arkport) making 13 saves to record his second straight shutout.

Pioneers Down Jamestown to Earn First Win

The Alfred State College men's soccer team picked up their first victory of the season on Thursday as they defeated Jamestown CC 3-0.

The Alfred State College men's soccer team picked up their first victory of the season on Thursday as they defeated Jamestown CC 3-0.  ASC is now 1-2-1 on the year and have two more games left on their six-game road trip.

Nick Peraino (Geneseo) got the Pioneers on the board with 25 minutes left in the 1st half.  Suzuki Keita (Yokohama, Japan) made it 2-0 15 minutes later after getting a pass from CJ Reynolds (East Rochester).

Reynolds recorded the lone goal in the 2nd half when he scored with 26 minutes left to add to the blue & gold's lead.

Men's Soccer Falls at Jefferson

The Alfred State College men's soccer team could not find the back of the net as they fell 1-0 to Jefferson CC on Saturday afternoon.  The Pioneers offense has yet to get going as the team has scored two goals in their first three games (0-2-1).

Jefferson scored the lone goal of the game with 34:29 remaining in the contest.  ASC held a 11 to 9 shot advantage for the contest.

Nick Smith (Arport) made eight saves for the Pioneers.

ASC looks to get on track on Thursday when they head down I-86 to Jamestown CC for a 4 p.m. contest with the Jayhawks.

The Mohawk Valley CC men's soccer team improved to 4-0 with a 5-1 victory over Alfred State in day two of the East-West Showdown at SUNY Delhi.

The Mohawk Valley CC men's soccer team improved to 4-0 with a 5-1 victory over Alfred State in day two of the East-West Showdown at SUNY Delhi.  The Pioneers are now 0-1-1 after the first weekend of the season.

ASC was outshot 28 to 13 on the day.  The lone Pioneer came with 13 minutes left in the game when Peter Dezio (East Rochester) scored after getting a throw in pass from Tim Randall (Churchville Chili).

Nick Smith (Arkport) made eight saves in net for the blue & gold.

Men's Soccer Ties Delhi

The Alfred State College men's soccer team opened up their 2011 season with a 1-1 tie with SUNY Delhi in day one action at the East-West Showdown.

The Alfred State College men's soccer team opened up their 2011 season with a 1-1 tie with SUNY Delhi in day one action at the East-West Showdown.

After over 60 minutes of scoreless action, Delhi got on the board with 27 minutes left in the game when a ball took a bad bounce into the net.  Keita Suzuki (Yokahama, Japan) found Dawson Peckham (Webster Schroeder) 13 minutes later to tie the game up at 1-1.

Neither team could score in the final 14 minutes or in the 20 minutes of overtime.

Schedule Set for East-West Showdown

The Alfred State College men's soccer team will open up their 2011-12 season this weekend at the East-West Showdown.  The rotating tournament will be held at SUNY Delhi this season.

The Alfred State College men's soccer team will open up their 2011-12 season this weekend at the East-West Showdown.  The rotating tournament will be held at SUNY Delhi this season.

The Pioneers will take on host SUNY Delhi at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday to open up their campaign and then will play at Noon on Sunday versus Mohawk Valley CC.  Jamestown CC is the fourth team in the two-day classic format tournament.

The East-West Showdown starts the Pioneers opening six-game road trip. The Pioneers are not home until September 22 when they host Broome CC.

Pioneers Garner Academic Awards

Several Alfred State College athletes have earned honors from the NJCAA, Region III, and the Western New York Athletic Conference for outstanding academic achievements.  Three Pioneers were recipients of the NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement, three more were honored with the NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement, 11 were named Academic All-Region, and 15 were named Academic All-Conference.

Arroyo Named New Alfred State Athletic Director

Alfred State College Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Steve Tyrell has announced that Dr. Daryl Arroyo has been named the new Director of Athletics, Physical Education, Recreation and Intramurals.  Arroyo, who succeeds Kathy Feldman, begins his new duties at Alfred State on June 29.

Three Men Soccer Players Named All-WNYAC

Three Alfred State College men's soccer players have earned All-WNYAC honors.  Lucas Wales (Bath) was named 1st team while Michael Gee (Arkport) and Derek Southworth (Fulton/G.Ray Bodley) were 2nd team selections.

Three Alfred State College men's soccer players have earned All-WNYAC honors.  Lucas Wales (Bath) was named 1st team while Michael Gee (Arkport) and Derek Southworth (Fulton/G.Ray Bodley) were 2nd team selections.

Wales led the blue & gold with seven goals and two assists.  He was part of nine of the Pioneers 17 goals on the season.  Wales finishes his career with 34 points (15 goals and three assists).  This is the second time he has been named 1st team All-WNYAC.

Pioneers Drop Finale

The Alfred State College men's soccer team played DI Monroe CC tough but were unable to find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss in their 2010 season finale.  The Pioneers finish their campaign with a 4-9-2 overall record.
