The NCAA Division III membership committee announced this week that it has granted exploratory status to the Alfred State athletic program. Alfred State submitted the NCAA application in January.

“Moving to NCAA is a natural evolution in creating a four-year college environment at Alfred State. We are excited about the prospects of having our athletes compete for four years wearing the blue & gold,” said Alfred State President, John Anderson.
Four members of the Alfred State College men's soccer team have been named to the All-WNYAC second team. CJ Reynolds (East Rochester), Peter Dezio (East Rochester), Nick Peraino (Geneseo) and Tim Randall (Churchville Chili) helped the Pioneers to a 5-9-1 season.

Reynolds led the blue & gold with 10 points on the season with four goals and two assists.
Dezio and Peraino both netted four goals on the season to tie with Reynolds for the most by anyone on the team.
#5 Onondaga CC downed #12 Alfred State College 5-0 in a Region III Division III Tournament 1st Round contest. The Pioneers finish the season 5-9-1 while the Lazers move on to the 2nd round to take on #4 Tompkins Cortland CC.

The Lazers outshot the Pioneers 20 to 7 in the contest. OCC netted two in the 1st half and put the game out of reach with three more in the 2nd. Nick Smith (Arkport) made 12 saves in net for Alfred State.
The Pioneers were making their 10th appearance in the Regional Tournament in the past 11 years.

TC3 scored two goals thirteen minutes apart in the 1st half to mount a 2-0 lead. ASC got back into the game just six and a half minutes into the 2nd when Kawakami Kohei (Toyama, Japan) scored to cut the lead in half. Dawson Peckham (Webster Schroeder) was credited with the assist.

Peraino netted two goals to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead at half. After the Red Barons got on the board with a deflected shot to cut the lead before Colby Curran (Alfred Almond) put the game out of reach with his second goal of the year.
ASC held a 30 to 3 shot advantage in the contest. Nick Smith (Arkport) made two saves in net for the Pioneers.
