Pioners Fall at Lakeland

The Alfred State College men's basketball team battled tough but fell 88-73 on the road at Lakeland (OH) CC.  The blue & gold are now 2-9 on the year.

Patrick Parker (Jamaica/Hillcrest) led the way for the Pioneers with 25 points and six rebounds.  Josh Griffin (Englewood, NJ) added 13 points and Younatan Gobezai (Bethesda, MD) finished with 10 points.

Lakeland held a 44-36 halftime lead.

The Pioneers end the 2010 portion of their season on Tuesday when they host CC of Beaver County.  Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.

Big 2nd Half Leads Cuyahoga Past ASC

Alfred State and Cuyahoga CC were tied 34-34 at half but the Challengers went on a run en route to a 70-58 victory on Thursday in Cleveland, OH.  The Pioneers are now 2-8 on the season.

Tommy Hutson (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney) nailed seven 3-pointers to lead the blue & gold with 25 points.  Patrick Parker (Jamaica/Hillcrest) and Calvin Williams (Queens/Francis Lewis) each finished with 11 points.

The Pioneers return to Ohio on Saturday when they take on Lakeland CC.

Finger Lakes CC started the game on a 25-6 run as they downed Alfred State 77-62 on Tuesday evening.  The loss drops the Pioneers to 2-7 on the season.

Emanuel Reaves netted 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead five Lakers in double figures.  Donnell Jackson finished with 17 points and nine boards, Glenn Taggart had 13, Derrious Thomas had 12, and Jeremy Jackson came off the bench and chipped in 10.

Jacin Vera led Rockland with 25 points while Joel Kukulu finished with 18 points and seven boards.  Durrelle Lindsey chipped in 12 while Patrick Hanley grabbed a team high 10 boards.

Milton Irizarry led the Raiders with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.  Kenroy Morrissaint chipped in 19 pionts and seven boards of the bench while JOse Irizarry finished with eight poins and six assists.  FMCC finished the contest shooting 44.9% from the field, 33.3% from three, and 81% from the foul line.

Beaver jumped out to a 37-20 lead at halftime and led by as many as 23 points in the second half before the Pioneers rallied to cut the lead to seven with just four minutes left.  ASC could never get any closer.

Cayuga Rallies Past ASC

Cayuga CC outscored Alfred State 44-34 in the 2nd half to erase a four-point halftime deficit en route to a 68-62 victory.  The Spartans are now 1-3 on the year while the Pioneers are 2-2.

Riley Sroman led CCC with 18 points and seven boards whiel Da'Keem Herndon added 10 points.  Dontay Wilson finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.  Cayuga shot 48.6% from the field in the 2nd half and shot 39.1% for the game.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team rallied from an eleven point halftime deficit to down Cuyahoga CC 68-63 in a hard fought contest.  The Pioneers improve to 2-1 on the season while the Challengers fall to 0-2.

Tommy Hutson (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney) came off the bench and sparked the Alfred State men's basketball team defeated Corning CC 84-56 .  ASC is now 1-1 on the year while CCC falls to 0-2.

Hutson led four Pioneers in double figures with 22 points.  Patrick Parker (Jamaica/Hillcrest) and Joe Bowman (Frewsburg) each had 14 points while Ryan Caron (Prattsburgh) finished with 11.

The blue & gold return to action on Saturday when they host Cuyahoga (OH) CC.  Opening tip-off is at 4 p.m.
