Pios drop tough one

The Alfred State College men's basketball team led 37-31 at half but Monroe College (NYC) went on a 12-0 run to start the 2nd half and never gave up the lead in a 81-75 victory.  ASC falls to 6-2 on the year heading into the Thanksgiving break.

Dusty Marshall (Newfield) led ASC with 17 points and six boards as all five starters finished in double-figures.  Fran Lantigua (Jamestown) and Jimmie Dillard (Gates Chili) each finished with 12 points while Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) and Cerrone Jackson (Forrest Hills) added 10 each.

Pios down Cuyahoga

The Alfred State College men's basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season with a 83-75 victory over Cuyahoga (OH) CC on Friday evening.  Five Pioneers finished in double-figures in the victory.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season with a 83-75 victory over Cuyahoga (OH) CC on Friday evening.  Five Pioneers finished in double-figures in the victory.

Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) led the way with 22 points (10 for 17 shooting) and nine boards.  Dusty Marshall (Newfield) had a solid all-around game with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.  Fran Lantigua (Jamestown) added 14 points and six boards, Cerrone Jackson (Forrest Hills) finished with 12 points, and Jimmie Dillard (Gates Chili) chipped in 10 points and eight boards.

A-State Downs Cayuga

The Alfred State College men's basketball team got contributions from everyone as they downed Cayuga CC 66-51 on Tuesday evening.  All eleven players that dressed for the Pioneers scored as the Blue and Gold improved to 5-1 on the season.

Dusty Marshall (Newfield) led ASC with 16 points while Jimmie Dillard (Gates Chili) finished with 11.  Cerrone Jackson (Forrest Hills) and Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) each chipped in six points.

A-State held a 30-12 lead at halftime and led by as many as 25 in the 2nd half before the Spartans mounted a late comeback.

Pioneers can't rally all the way back

The Alfred State College men's basketball team couldn't rally from a 10-point halftime and fell for the first time in the 2007-08 season 72-64 to Lakeland (OH) CC.  The Lakers improve to 3-1 while the Pioneers fall to 4-1.

Justin Horne and Roderick Fuller each scored 17 to pace the Laker offense.  Fuller added 10 boards to pick up the double-double.  Jahmil Rippy added 15 points off the bench while Bryan Wright finished with eight points and six assists.  Lakeland hit 10 three-pointers to pace their offense.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team had four players finish in double-figures as they improved to 4-0 on the year with a 66-54 victory over Corning CC.  The Red Barons fall to 2-2 on the year.

Marshall's Three Lifts Pioneers to Win

Dusty Marshall (Newfield) hit a three-pointer with 36 seconds remaining to give Alfred State a 68-67 lead en route to a 70-69 victory over Broome CC on Tuesday evening.  The win improves the Pioneers to 3-0 on the year while the Hornets fall to 1-2.
