Both the Alfred State College men's and women's basketball teams fell at Monroe CC on Tuesday in WNYAC match-ups.  The men fell 66-56 to the #7 ranked Tribunes (17-5) while the women fell 94-46 to the #17 Lady Tribunes (16-4).

Five Score in Double Figures in Victory

Five players finished in double figures as the Alfred State College men's basketball team evened up their record with a 73-59 victory over Jamestown CC on Thursday evening.  ASC is 8-8 overall and 2-2 in WNYAC play.

Dan Foley (Irondequoit) led the way with 21 points while Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) chipped in 15.  Chris Dalton (Elmira Southside) and Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) each scored 12 and Chris Lorenzo (Syracuse/Corcoran) chipped in 11.

The Pioneers led 36-28 at halftime and pushed the lead to as many as 20 points in the 2nd half.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team led 27-22 at half but were outscored 41-26 in the second half and fell 63-53 to Niagara CCC in a WNYAC contest at the Orvis Activities Center on Tuesday evening.  ASC falls to 7-8 overall and 1-2 in WNYAC play.

Franklin Harris led all scorers with 19 points while Dyrell Dolson recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.  NCCC shot just 25.7% from the field in the first half but got going in the second hal shooting 59.3% including 4 for 6 from three.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team shot 50.9% (28 for 55) from the field as the opened up 2009 with a 71-44 victory over JCC-Olean on Saturday.  ASC evens up their record at 7-7 (1-1 WNYAC).

Changes to 2009 Basketball Schedule

The Alfred State College athletic department has announced a few changes to the 2009 portion of the basketball schedules.

Men's Basketball:

1/17 vs. JCC-Olean has been moved to a 1 p.m. start

2/1 vs. Medaille College JV will be played at 12:30 p.m.

2/2 vs. Ithaca College JV will be played at 7 p.m.

Men's Basketball Game Cancelled

Thursday evening's men's basketball game between Alfred State and Ithaca JV has been cancelled.  The game will be now played on February 2 at 7 p.m. at the Orvis Activities Center.

ASC closes out 2008 with a 6-7 mark and will return to action on January 17 when they take on JCC-Olean at 3 p.m.

Three Pointers Doom Pioneers

After a slow first five minutes, Gensee CC got their offense going in a 92-61 WNYAC victory over Alfred State on Tuesday evening.  The Cougars, ranked #6 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, trailed 14-0 after five minutes but went on to hit 15 three-pointers to improve to 9-0 on the season.

Pioneers fall versus Finger Lakes

The Alfred State College men's basketball team rallied from a 22-point second half deficit to cut it to three, 67-64, but couldn't make it all the way back and fell 69-64 to Finger Lakes CC.  ASC falls to 6-6 on the season.

Jorge Ebanks led the Lakers with 18 points while Jordan Koch and Dom Mazzochi each finished with 11 each.  Darrin Martindale came off the bench and chipped in 10.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team erased a 45-42 deficit with a 33-6 run in the 2nd half en route to a 79-57 victory over Dean College in the consolation game of the ASC Tournament.  ASC enters the Thanksgiving break with a 6-5 record.
