Pioneers Earn 4th Seed for Regionals

The Alfred State College men's basketball team will enter the Region III Division II Tournament as the #4 seed and will host #5 Niagara CCC in a first round match-up on Tuesday evening.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Orvis Activities Center.

The Pioneers and Trailblazers are very familiar with each other.  Neil Wilson (Fort Worth, TX) hit a long two-point jumper in the closing seconds to lift ASC to a 85-83 victory over NCCC on Saturday to clinch the first round home playoff game.  Earlier in the season, the blue & gold downed the Blazers 80-73.

Wilson Hits Game Winner in Final Seconds

Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) capped a career night by hitting a game winning jumper with seven seconds left to lift Alfred State to a key 85-83 victory over Niagara CCC on Saturday.  The win propels the Pioneers to 12-17 overall record (6-8 in WNYAC play) and the #4 seed in next week's Region III Division II Tournament.

Pioneers Give #1 Erie All They Can Handle

The Alfred State College men's basketball team pushed #1 Erie CC for over 30 minutes but the Kats used late second half runs to improve to 26-1 with a 65-50 victory.  ASC falls to 11-17 overall and 5-8 in WNYAC play.

The Pioneers led by as many as nine in the first half but trailed by two at halftime.  The game was back and forth in the second half and was tied at 44-44 with just under ten minutes left.  ECC went on a 19-4 run over the next seven minutes to take full control of the game.

Cougars Rally to Top Pioneers

The Alfred State College men's basketball team led for most of their WNYAC contest versus Genesee CC but the Cougars mounted a second half comeback outscoring ASC 40-25 to earn a 67-61 victory.  The Pioneers fall to 11-16 overall and 5-7 in WNYAC play.

Tribunes Top Pioneers

The Alfred State College basketball teams struggled in road contests at Monroe CC.  The men fell 75-54 to the #3 ranked Tribunes while the women were defeated 114-49 by the #13 ranked Lady Tribunes.

Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) was the only Pioneer in double figures for the men.  He finished with 20 poitns while Rasean Parris (Brooklyn/Benjamin Banneker) added seven points. 

Four different Tribunes finished in double figures with Antonio Williams and Bobby Bell each finishing with 14.  MCC held a 46 to 38 advantage on the boards and forced 23 turnovers.

Wilson and Gobezai Lead ASC past Jamestown

Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) and Younatan Gobezai (Washington DC) led the Alfred State College men's basketball team past Jamestown CC 76-65.  The win avenges an early season loss to JCC and improves the Pioneers to 11-14 overall and 5-5 in WNYAC play.

Pioneers Can't Rally all the way Back

Trailing by 16 points with 12 minutes left, the Alfred State College men's basketball team rallied to within three but were unable to capitalize on a few chances in the final minute and fell 77-72 to Mercyhurst North East.  ASC is now 10-14 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

Three Pointers Lead Pioneers Past JCC-Olean

The Alfred State College men's basketball team connected on 11 three-pointers as they snapped a four game losing streak with a 86-65 victory over JCC Olean.  The Pioneers hit 11 out of 22 three pointers (7 for 12 in the first half) on the game.

Early Runs lead #2 Erie past Alfred State

Erie CC used two big first half runs to take control of their WNYAC battle with Alfred State.  #2 ranked ECC improves to 18-1 on the season with a 86-70 victory.

Jose Stable (Brooklyn/EBC-Bushwick) led the blue & gold with 17 points while Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) added 10 for the 9-12 Pioneeers (3-3 WNYAC).

ASC returns to action on Saturday when they travel to #2 ranked Erie CC.  Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Flickenger Center
