Pioneers Open New Stadium with High Hopes

The Alfred State College football team will play on campus for the first time in program history in 2008 and the Pioneers hope to make some noise in the Northeast Football Conference.  Mick Caba (9th season, 36-44) and his coaching staff believe that an added emphasis on size and speed will pay dividends.

Athletes Begin to Report this Week

The 2008-09 Alfred State College athletic season kicks off this week as preseason camps open in preparation for the fall seasons.  Football, volleyball, men's & women's soccer, and baseball will all report to campus and begin practice by Sunday while the cross country team will begin practicing on Tuesday.

Chisolm & Septh Named All-American

John ChisolmMike SepthAlfred State College sophomore football players John Chisolm (Trenton, NJ) and Mike Septh (Monroe Woodbury) have been named NJCAA All-Americans.  Chisolm was named a second team defensive back while Septh was named an honorable mention wide receiver.

Five Football Players honored by NFC

The Alfred State College football team had five players honored by being named All-Northeast Football Conference.  Mike Septh (Monroe Woodbury), John Chisolm (Trenton, NJ), and Calvin Corbin (Winslow, NJ) were named to the 1st team while Vince DiMarco (Webster Thomas) and Nick Monroe (Irondequoit) were named 2nd team.

Chisolm to play in JUCO All-Star Game

Alfred State College sophomore cornerback John Chisolm (Trenton, NJ) has been selected to play in the Inaugural Triumphant Sports Bowl.  The Triumphant Sports Bowl will feature 55 players from NJCAA schools taking on 55 players from California Community College Athletic Association schools in Mesa, AZ.

Pios fall in Season Finale

The Alfred State College football team jumped out to a 14-0 lead but Nassau CC bounced back and turned things around en route to a 47-14 victory on Saturday.  The loss ends the Pioneeers season with a 3-7 record while the Lions end the season with a 7-3 record.

Jermell Corbitt (Naples, FL) connected with Mike Septh (Monroe Woodbury) on scoring strikes of 30 and 20 yards in the 1st quarter to give the Pioneers an early lead.

Lackawanna too much for A-State

Lackawanna College got contributions from their offense, defense, and special teams as they improved to 6-2 (2-2 NFC) with an 84-20 victory over Alfred State at Maple City Park on Saturday.

The Pioneers (3-6, 0-4 NFC) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after Jermell Corbitt (Naples, FL) dove in from one yard out on their first possession.  The Falcons scored the next 16 points in a 2:31 span to take the lead for good.

Alfred State Falls to Erie

The Alfred State College football team never could get their offense going and fell 24-6 to Erie CC in a Northeast Football Conference contest played in very windy conditions in Orchard Park. ECC clinches a spot in the Region III Championship game and improves to 5-2 (3-2 NFC) on the year while ASC falls to 3-5 (0-3 NFC).
