The Alfred State College athletic department has launched a new facebook page with hopes of creating a more interactive experience for current, future, and past Pioneer athletes and fans to interact.

The new page features pictures, home event schedules, and is fully interactive.  Visitors are encouraged to post their own comments, pictures, and thoughts about Pioneers athletics.

Pioneers Down Erie to Close out Season

The Alfred State College football team revenged an early season loss at Erie CC with a 21-15 victory over the Kats to close out the 2009 season.  The Pioneers who received a forfeit victory earlier in the week finish their campaign with a 5-5 record while the Kats finish 4-6.

The Pioneers jumped on the board first on the first offensive possession of the game.  Jeff Glomb (Buffalo/St. Francis) connected with Pat White (Warren, OH) on a 10-yard scoring play.  Glomb and White connected three times in the drive for 83 yards.

The Alfred State College football team couldn't capitalize on numerous scoring chances and fell 21-7 to #15 Nassau CC in their Northeast Football Conference finale.  ASC is now 3-6 (0-5 NFC) while Nassau is 7-2 (3-2 NFC).

Nassau got on the board first with 14:16 remaining in the second quarter when Craig Geoghan rushed in from 12-yards out to cap a 15-play, 88 yard drive.  They added to their lead five minutes later following a blocked punt when Steven Miller ran in from 17-yards out.

Pioneers Rally Falls Short

Trailing 35-7 with under eleven minutes remaining Alfred State College put forth a valiant comeback but was unable to make it all the way back.  Dean College improves to 8-1 (3-1 NFC) with the 35-27 victory at Pioneer Stadium.

Alfred State and Dean traded touchdown drives early in the second quarter but the Bulldogs would erase a 7-6 deficit by scoring the next 29 points.

Five Alfred State College turnovers led to two touchdowns for Lackawanna College in the Falcons 29-19 victory at Pioneer Stadium on Saturday.  The Pioneers are now 3-4 (0-3 NFC) while the Falcons improve to 5-2 (3-1 NFC).

The Pioneers scored first with 10:34 remaining in the 1st quarter when Xavier Makell (Baltimore, MD) found Rod Streater (Burlington, NJ) on the half-back option pass.

Alfred State College football players Xavier Makell (Baltimore, MD) and Obi Ezemma (Queens) have earned weekly honors following solid performances on Friday night at Cornell University.  Makell was named the Region III male athlete of the week while Ezemma was named the NFC special teams player of the week.

Pioneers can't Overcome Slow Start

Three early turnovers helped Cornell University JV jump out to a 30-0 lead en route to a 33-19 victory over Alfred State in the rain on Friday evening.  The Pioneers nine game non-conference winning streak dating back to the 2007 season comes to an end and the '09 squad falls to 3-2 on the season.

In the first 19 minutes of the game, the Big Red picked off three passes (returned one for a score) and raced out to a 30-0 lead before the Pioneers settled down and tried to get back in the game.

Pioneers Score Late to Down Globe

Xavier Makell (Baltimore, MD) rushed in from 12-yards out with 5:59 remaining in the game to lift Alfred State to a 8-3 homecoming victory over Globe Institute of Technology.  The victory was the lowest scoring victory in Pioneer football history.

The lone touchdown drive was fueled by three huge plays.  Reggie Corley (Elmira Free) connected with Anthony Bright (Philadelphia, PA) on a 43-yard pass play, Corley converted a 4th and 10 with a 15-yard quarterback scramble, and Makell carried half the Knight defense in the endzone with him to score the game-winner.

The Pioneers got on the board less than three minutes into the game when Jeff Glomb (Buffalo/St. Francis) connected with Pat White (Warren, OH) on a 78 yard passing play.  Ten minutes later, Glomb hit Rod Streater (Burlington, NJ) with a 20 yard scoring pass play.
