In the opener, ECC took advantage of five walks and three errors while their defense held the Pioneers to just four hits. ASC scored their lone run of the game in the 7th, when Dylan Dunn (Hornell) scored on a wild pitch after he singled and went to third on a double by Keegan Pierce (Hornell).

Mercyhurst North East scored single runs in the 1st and 3rd innings and held off the Pioneers lone rally in the 5th. Trailing 2-0, Brett Rapan (Bolivar Richburg) tripled home Eric Hicks (Equinunk, PA) to cut the lead in half. MNE was able to record the next three outs and strand Rapan at third.

Alfred State College baseball player JP Frey (Erie, PA/McDowell) has been named a NJCAA Division III 3rd team All-American. Frey is the sixth baseball All-American since the baseball program was reinstated in 1994.

Frey led the Pioneers with a .379 (36 for 95) batting average. He collected eight doubles, two triples, one homer, and 15 RBI. He also scored a team high 30 runs and stole a team high 16 bases. He started in all 28 games.

The Alfred State College baseball team ran their winning streak to three and climbed back to .500 with a doubleheader sweep of Broome CC. ASC won the opener 4-3 in walk-off fashion and won the nightcap 10-3.

In the opener, Broome rallied from a 3-2 deficit with an unearned run in the top of the 7th but the Pioneers answered right back in the bottom half and won the game when JP Frey (Erie, PA/McDowell) slide in before the tag on a Tyler Mann (Holland Patent) ground ball to short.
