Health Information Technology Graduates Achieve 100 Percent Pass Rate

Graduates of Alfred State College's Internet-based health information technology (HIT) program, Class of 2008, achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) national certification exam. This represents the fifth year since 2000 that graduates achieved a 100 percent pass rate!

Alfred State College Will Stage the Play, A New Brain

Alfred State College will stage the play, A New Brain, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Nov. 14-16, in the Orvis Activities Auditorium. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Cost of admission is $3 for students and $5 for the general public.

The Automotive Trades Department of Alfred State College, in conjunction with Tenneco, sponsored a "Drive and Ride" event in September at the Wellsville Campus.  Following a successful day of interactive automotive technology demonstrations and drive experiences, a banquet was held to honor the folks in the after-market automotive industry who have been supporters of the college.  Plaques were given to Tenneco, Standard Motor Products, Inc., and UniSelect USA in recognition of the dedication to Progress through Partnership shown by each of these companies in developing

In many small college towns, there seems to be an invisible fence between the campus and off-campus businesses. Students tend to stay on campus where their campus ID facilitates access to virtually anything they need.

Students tend to stay on campus where their campus ID facilitates access to virtually anything they need. Meanwhile, business owners work hard to entice students to patronize local establishments, spend some dollars locally, and get involved in the community. This kind of stalemate is slowly dissolving in Alfred, NY, because of a unique Campus Partner program implemented at Alfred State College in Fall 2007.

The Admissions Office at Alfred State College will host regional school counselors, directors of guidance, and college advisers for SUNY Operation Inform 2008 on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008.  This professional development opportunity features SUNY workshops and the chance to explore current topics in higher education.

The day will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Lake Lodge on Terbury Road, Alfred, where participants will register and enjoy breakfast during welcoming remarks and a SUNY update.
