Dr. Richard Kellogg, professor of psychology at Alfred State College, is the author of an article appearing in the most recent issue of Newsletter of the Society for the Teaching of Psychology, a publication of the American Psychological Association. Titled "Freud's Hiking Holiday," the article focuses on Sigmund Freud's only visit to America in 1909 and the time he spent exploring the Adirondack region in the area of Keene Valley.
Students enrolled in Alfred State College's Building Trades curriculums have donated their time and talents to help a local family with a wheelchair-bound child by building a ramp at the house where the family lives to make mobility a little easier for the child and his family.

and rounded up several of his classmates who volunteered their time and energy

Three Alfred State College seniors began their service to our country Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) commissioning ceremony in the Allegany Room of the Central Dining Hall on the Alfred State campus. The ceremony-the first of its kind held at Alfred State-was as steeped in tradition as the next day's commencement.
Three Alfred State College seniors began their service to our country Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) commissioning ceremony in the Allegany Room of the Central Dining Hall on the Alfred State campus. The ceremony-the first of its kind held at Alfred State-was as steeped in tradition as the next day's commencement. The commissioning ceremony featured remarks by College President Dr. John M. Anderson and the administration of the oath by 1 Lt. Monique Barnhart, Maj. Retired Scott Spillane, and Major Jonathon Olson.
Alfred State College nursing students celebrated their
accomplishments the Friday before commencement by attending the annual nurses'
pinning ceremony.

lighted, honoring the founder of modern nursing. The pinning ceremony is
the culmination of the years of study and hard work graduating nursing students
have invested in preparation for their chosen career.
Some 900 two- and

Sunday, May 18, as Alfred State College honored its 97th graduating
class.
Dr.
John M. Anderson, college president, presided over the ceremony.
At this year's ceremony, Alfred State presented
an honorary doctorate to Amory Houghton, Jr., former United States
congressman.

"digital dorm room" (DDR), a program designed to bring new technology and
solutions directly to colleges and universities across the United States.

The Digital Dorm Room is actually a model of a cool technology-enabled
dorm room built into a truck. Live product demonstrations
Alfred State College sponsored a "Get Your Ad Running" video contest during the just-completed spring semester. Using Alfred State College's tag line "Hit the Ground Running," contestants created a 30-second video showing why Alfred State College is the best place to get an education.
