Mason Smithewson Students from Region I BOCES (Board of Cooperative Education and Services) districts--encompassing Western New York and the Southern Tier--competed recently in a SkillsUSA (formerly Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) Day leadership conference and skills Olympics at Alfred State College, on both the Wellsville and Alfred campuses, earlier this month. Several BOCES schools participated in the event.

31st Annual Culinary Arts Exposition to be Held Saturday, April 26

The 31st annual Culinary Arts Exposition, featuring an exhibit of Epicurean delights prepared by students enrolled in Alfred State College's Culinary Arts Department programs, will be held Saturday, April 26, 1:30-3 p.m., in the Culinary Arts Building on the School of Applied Technology Campus, South Brooklyn Avenue, Wellsville.

The 31stannual Culinary Arts Exposition, featuring an exhibit of Epicurean delights prepared by students enrolled in Alfred State College's Culinary Arts Department programs, will be held Saturday, April 26, 1:30-3 p.m., in the Culinary Arts Building on the School of Applied Technology Campus, South Brooklyn Avenue, Wellsville.

The students' culinary creations will be judged by professionals from the culinary industry, including members of the American Culinary Federation of Greater Buffalo.

Students enrolled in the Automotive Trades curriculums at Alfred State College will celebrate National Car Care Month in April by hosting their annual Car Care Awareness Day on Saturday, April 19, 2008, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in freshman shop on the School of Applied Technology Campus, Wellsville, with a variety of FREE services.  Signs will be posted to direct participants.

Students from Alfred State College, Culinary Institute of America, and SUNY Delhi, will compete in the following areas - automotive service, auto body, technical drafting, carpentry, CNC milling, commercial baking, culinary, diesel technology, masonry, precision machining, residential wiring, and welding.
