Italian "Calcio"

Ciao everyone!
Yesterday was a very fun day indeed -- Me and a few other students, including Jacob Mountain, Lee Smith, and JB Zappolo got to experience our very first taste of playing European soccer! Olga Stinga, who works for Sorrento Lingue, set us up to play a soccer match with her brother and some of his friends.

First Few Days of Classes

Ciao Everyone!

We have almost completed our first week of classes at Sorrento Lingue, and they have been great classes! For those of you who are curious about the Architectural course load that a typical Alfred State College student will have, we are currently taking Architectural (Studio) Sorrento, Photography, Archaeology, and Italian I.

The biggest surprise about Sorrento Lingue has been the Italian I course. Our teacher for this course can, but usually will not speak any english at all throughout the class period -- talk about being immersed in Italian culture!

SUNY Chancellor's Award Committee

Professor Damrath was nominated for the SUNY Chancellor's Award for excellent teaching recently. He currently teaches Estate Planning, Business Ethics, an Business Law for the Business department at Alfred State. A good friend of mine had the honor of writing a letter of recommendation to support his nomination. I'm no business student, but I personally sat in on one of his classes just for fun, and realized how great of an educator he is. He turns a dull subject like business ethics into a stimulating and thought-provoking area of interest.

Sorrento, Italy!

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone had a great holiday season and a great new year's celebration!

The 2011 Sorrento Lingue class from Alfred State College has finally arrived in Sorrento, Italy, and have started to settle in to the brand new culture. We have been very fast paced since we have arrived, travelling from Naples to Sorrento, moving into our apartments, exploring the town of Sorrento and the island of Capri.

Architectural Student Design - Bridge Project

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and thanks for taking the time to check out my blog. This week many architecture students, including myself, are in the process of working on our final design projects for the semster. For those of you who are interested in coming to Alfred State College and enrolling the architectural technology program, I thought it would be nice to explain the final project that freshman students had to complete during their first semster.

So fustrating

I hope everyone had a good thanksgiving!

So as the end of the semester is fast approaching the last two weeks before finals are so hectic. It is important to space your work out so  you are not cramming it all in the night before it is due. I have done a very good job at that this semester.

Planning for Next Semester

These last few weeks of the semester always seem to drag on. Most of my time nowadays is spent studying for tests or working on end of semester projects. That's why is it's such a relief to have already registered for next semester's courses. Instead of a senior project, I choice to partake in an internship alongside 3 of my classmates. My last semester will be by far my most flexible. Even though the internship will count as 6 credit hours, a lot of the work we need to do will be done on campus. Other than that I have only three other courses to complete for the entire semester.
