Starting work at the farm

I recently came to Alfred to stay at the college farm and work. As soon as I walk in the door I'm meet to my new housemate. Not long after hearing all the noise I'm being loved up by multiple friendly cats, one of them being a little kitten named Molly. By the time I have finished unpacking everyone else has already gone off to work. Even though I just got there I quickly got bored and decided to walk down to barn. At this point they had already begun milking. I have never actually seen this kind of equipment for milking and I was unsure of what to do.

Farewell, Sorrento

Ciao Tutti!

I'm sorry its been so long since my last blog, I have been so busy finishing up all my work for the end of this semester!

I am down to my final day here in Sorrento. I cannot believe how quickly this semester has passed! I remember when I was a sophomore at Alfred State College and I was wondering if it was really worth the money to go overseas and study in Sorrento, and I have definitely figured out an answer to that question: it is worth every penny.

Human Service Awareness Day

Human service awareness day was a huge success. S.O.S had a table to recruit new members and we actually had a lot of interest! Hopefully next year we will have much more interest, so the group can keep running because it was the potential benefit many people on and off campus. For example, we have already held a canned food drive for local food pantries, to my suprise we actually raised a lot of food. We plan on having an end of the year meeting to address who we are going to run the club nexy year. If you have any interest at all come and give us your input.

Presentation for Marina Piccola

Ciao Tutti!

This week I have some exciting news in terms of our architectural work here in Sorrento! For the past several weeks, Alfred State architecture students here in Sorrento have been slaving over a project for the main ferry port in Sorrento: Marina Piccola. Our class was split into three main groups, each with their own unique ideas on how to improve Sorrento's Marina Piccola. The business students here in Sorrento also aided the presentation by presenting practical business solutions to the problems of Marina Piccola to promote business and environmental sustainability.

Asfraff

It seems like winter is never going to end. We actually had a snow day in the middle of March (what is that about mother nature?) All the snow was gone and it looked like spring had actually arrived, not the case because when I woke up the next morning 8 inches of snow was on the ground. I guess it is acceptable though because of the beautiful landscape that we have, especially with the snow covered trees. I cannot wait for all of the spring time events to come including hog wild day, hot dog day, and many outdoor recreation fun.

Field Trip to Oplontis

Ciao Tutti!

Thanks so much for taking the time to check out my blog! My blog for today isn’t as exciting as the past few blogs I have posted – it is pretty hard to top Barcelona and Athens! But this trip was still a lot of fun for me.

Spring Break 2011 Part III ~ Athens

Ciao Tutti!

I have all of my photos organized from our Athens trip, so now I can finally tell you all about it!

Athens was an amazing place. It had tons of awesome souvenier shops and stores, amazing food and restaurants (not as good as the ones in Sorrento, but they are pretty close!), and the amount of ancient ruins in the city made for the perfect end to our spring break.
