Thank you so much for taking the time to read up on my adventures in Sorrento! I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day! If you were in Sorrento for Valentine's Day, you would have experienced something entirely different any other Valentine's Day.
Here in Sorrento, the 14th of February is not called Valentine's Day - The Sorrentines call this day the Fiest Day of Sant'Antonino, and it is a day dedicated to religious ceremony. In the morning, there was a massive procession consisting of priests, altar servers, police, and everything in between. For the first time this year, the quiet town of Sorrento completely changed. Crowds were in the streets trying to see the processions, and most of the main road through Sorrento (Corso Italia) was covered with tents that had festival-style games and shops.
This was one Valentine's Day that I will never forget, it was truly remarkable! Here are some pictures below of the festival. Look more from me later on this week.
