Intramural Rules: Flag Football

  1. Each team must have a minimum of 5 players and a maximum of 7 players.
  2. All games are two 15 minute halves.  The clock will stop during the last two minutes of each half on the following: Touchdown, Safety, First Down, Incomplete Pass, Penalty, Injury, and Time Out.  Running time will be in effect for the first 13 minutes of each half.  Game will end with two or less minutes to go if a team is ahead by 17 points.
  3. Scoring:  Touchdown = 6,  3 yard try = 1,  10 yard try = 2,  Safety = 2,  Def score on try = 2
  4. Timeouts: Each team will have two timeouts per game (one minute duration).
  5. Four Downs to cover 20 yards.
  6. Penalties: Major = 10 yards,  Minor = 5 yards.
  7. Screen Blocking:  Must have hands at sides or behind back.
  8. Everyone is eligible to receive a pass.
  9. Legal catch/interception has one foot inbounds.
  10. Fumbles touching the ground are dead balls.
  11. Offensive team must have 4 players on the line of scrimmage.
  12. Neutral zone is 1 yard from the ball's forward spot.
  13. Team that wins the coin toss may elact to start the game with the ball.
  14. After touchdown the ball will be put on the 15 yard line.
  15. No flag guarding. 
  16. The ball carrier cannot hurdle or dive to evade a defensive player.
  17. Taunting is an illegal act.
  18. Players can not play in shorts/pants with pockets.
  19. Each team has 25 seconds to get the play off before being penalized.
  20. All remaining rules comply with NIRSA.
