Men finish 4th, Women 7th at Regionals

The Alfred State College men's cross country team finished 4th out of eight teams and the women finished 7th at the Region III Championships held at SUNY Delhi on Saturday.  The men scored a 118 and the women scored a 159.

Zak Williamson (Rocky Point) finished 2nd on the men's side with a great run of 29:26 on the wet course.  Josh Schmidbauer (Royalton-Hartland) finished 24th (31:53), Corey Smith (Wallkill) finished 31st (32:31), Sam Estes (Wheatland Chili) finished 32nd (32:33), and Michael Kaplan (Tri-Valley) rounded out the top five with a 37th finish (33:07).

Five Pioneers Named to All-WNYAC Baseball Team

Five members of the Alfred State College fall baseball team have been named All-WNYAC following the Pioneers 10-6 season.  Kevin Underhill (Somers) was a 1st team selection, Jeff Benchich (Millbrook), Adalberto Vargas (Norman Thomas), and Kenny O'Brien (Norwalk, CT) was named to the 2nd team, and Jeff Paul (Horseheads) was named honorable mention.

Lady Pioneers remain ranked #5

The Alfred State College volleyball team remained ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll.  The Lady Pioneers are currently 26-4 on the season heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

The Alfred State College volleyball team remained ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll.  The Lady Pioneers are currently 26-4 on the season heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

The Lady Pioneers have won 18 of their last 20 matches with their only two losses coming to Division II Genesee CC.  ASC started the pre-season ranked #6, fell to #10 during the beginning part of the season, and vaulted to their current spot of #5 after their recent success.

McLaughlin Named Pre-season All-American

Alfred State College sophomore basketball player Tiffany McLaughlin (Wellsville) has been named to the NJCAA Division II pre-season All-American team.  McLaughlin was a 2nd team selection.

Cross Country remains #7

The Alfred State College cross country teams remain ranked #7 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll.  The Pioneers have been ranked #7 in the last four polls.

The team has been busy preparing for this weekend's Region III Championships.  The Blue and Gold will travel to SUNY Delhi this weekend for the event.

Volleyball players Brianne McMahon (Buffalo/Sweet Home), Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill), and Elaina Bruan (Waterloo) were named All-WNYAC this weekend at the annual Western New York Athletic Conference Tournament.

Lady Spikers fall in WNYAC Finals

The Alfred State College volleyball team downed Jamestown CC (17-30, 30-24, 30-16, 30-19) in the Western New York Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals but fell to Genesee CC (31-33, 28-30, 25-30) in the finals.

Corey Metcalfe scored with under ten seconds remaining to lift #9 Finger Lakes CC to a 2-1 victory over #8 Alfred State in a Region III Division III Tournament 1st round contest.  The Lakers improve to 11-8 and move on to the quarterfinals to take on #1 SUNY Cobleskill while the Pioneers end their season with a 7-7-2 record.

The Alfred State College women's soccer team fell 5-1 to SUNY Delhi in a 1st round Region III Division III contest on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Pioneers end their season 7-8-1 while the Lady Broncos advance to the quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon.

The Alfred State College women’s soccer team fell 5-1 to SUNY Delhi in a 1st round Region III Division III contest on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Pioneers end their season 7-8-1 while the Lady Broncos advance to the quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon.

Delhi took a 2-0 in the 1st half after out-shooting Alfred 10 to 9.

The Broncos added another goal before Brittany Hannah (Eastridge) scored after getting a pass from Jody Ninos to make it 3-1.  Delhi added two more goals to seal the victory.
