Lady Pioneers Down Penn Tech, Win Streak at 16

Playing for the first time since earning the #1 ranking in the NJCAA DIII poll, the Alfred State women's soccer team scored three goals in a span of 1:14 en route to a 4-0 victory over Penn College of Technology. With the win the Lady Pioneers are 16-1 on the year.

Lady Spikers Sweep Elmira JV

The Alfred State volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 25-18, 25-14, 25-7 victory over Elmira College JV on Wednesday. The Lady Pioneers improve to 24-12 on the year.

Mercedes Bossard (Hornell) led the Lady Pioneers with 28 assists and four digs while Mallory Eberhardt (Lyons) finished with six kills, five aces, and four digs.  Sarah Linn chipped in six kills and four aces and Jackie Lieb (Hornell) had five kills. 

The blue & gold now shirt their focus to the WNYAC Tournament that will be held at Genesee CC in Batavia.

Muhleisen Named National Player of the Week

Alfred State women's soccer player Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond) picked up her third honor of the week. Today she was named the NJCAA DIII soccer player of the week.

Alfred State women's soccer player Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond) picked up her third honor of the week.  Today she was named the NJCAA DIII soccer player of the week.

Muhleisen netted six goals and passed out one assist in the Lady Pioneers three victories last week.  She had both goals in the team's 2-1 victory over Finger Lakes CC, ranked #2 in the country, at the time, she scored a goal in the Lady Pioneers 3-0 win at Bryant & Stratton, and netted three goals and passed out an assist in a 8-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan JV.

After weeks of sitting in the top five, the Alfred State women's soccer team has vaulted to the #1 spot in this week's NJCAA Division III poll. The Lady Pioneers jumped up four spots from last week's poll to earn the program's first ever top ranking.

Erie Rallies Past Lady Pioneers on Dig Pink Night

Erie CC rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Alfred State 3-2 (20-25, 25-15, 25-12, 15-25, 9-15) in the Lady Pioneers annual Dig Pink game. The Kats improve to 19-8 on the year while the Pioneers are now 23-12.

Lera Braun (Waterloo) led the Lady Pioneers with 30 assists, 16 digs, and seven kills.  Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) finished with 12 kills and 11 digs, Mallory Eberhardt (Lyons) had nine digs and eight kills, and Jessica Ramsey (Tioga) chipped in 13 digs.

Cross Country Remains Steady in Poll

The Alfred State cross country teams remained steady in this week's NJCAA Division III poll. The women's team remained in the #3 position while the men are ranked #5.

Both the men and the women finished 11th at the DeSales Invitational this past weekend.  Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East) was the top male finisher on the 8k course. Rusek finished 24th in 28:07.6. Jed Platt (Barker) was 25th (28:14.0).  On the women's side Kim Lupo (Auburn) was the top female finisher. She finished the 6k course in 46th (27:01.8).

Muhleisen continued her scoring assault with six more goals in the Lady Pioneers three victories this past week.  She scored both goals in Alfred's 2-1 win over #2 Finger Lakes CC, she netted one goal in a 3-0 win at Bryant & Stratton, and capped the week with three goals and an assist in a 8-0 homecoming win over Roberts Wesleyan JV.

On the year, Muhleisen has 27 goals and seven assists.

Pioneers Win Regular Season Finale

The Alfred State men's soccer team scored five goals in the 2nd half to break a 1-1 tie en route to a 6-1 victory over Roberts Wesleyan JV as they closed out the regular season portion of their schedule. The Pioneers are now-5-8-3 on the year.

Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) scored the first goal of the game at 31:09 into the contest after getting a nice set-up from Daniel Asante (Bronx Leadership Academy).  Roberts answered right back two and half minutes later with a goal by Gabe Necoechea.

Fifteen Straight for Lady Pioneers

Ten different Lady Pioneers recorded points as the Alfred State women's soccer team defeated Roberts Wesleyan JV 8-0 as the college celebrated Homecoming 2012. The blue & gold now have won 15 straight games and are 15-1 on the year.

Homecoming Rally Falls Short

The Alfred State football team put together a solid comeback attempt in the 2nd half but could not overcome an 27-3 halftime deficit in a 27-17 loss to Globe Institute of Technology. Alfred is now 3-2 on the year while Globe is 4-2.
