What kind of athletic facilities does Alfred State have?

Answer: 

We are very proud of the athletic facilities. The athletic department is located in the Orvis Activities Center. Inside Orvis is the gymnasium, a state-of-the art fitness center, a six-lane swimming pool, a wrestling room, locker rooms, and an athletic training room. Outside of Orvis you will find Pioneer Stadium, a field turf facility surrounded by an eight lane track. Pioneer Stadium features lights, bleachers, a press box, and a front gate with a ticket office, official locker rooms, concessions, and rest rooms. Also located outside of Orvis is the college's baseball and softball fields, and practice fields for all outdoor sports.

Who can play at Alfred State?

Answer: 

Any student at Alfred State can be a part of an athletic team. Open tryouts are held in each sport, interested athletes should contact the coach of that sport.

With the move to the NCAA incoming freshmen students who wish to participate in intercollegiate athletics must be admitted into a four-year program or have a 78 or 2.4/4.0 high school average AND a 900 (critical reading and math) SAT or a 19 composite ACT to be immediately eligible their first semester. Incoming transfer students who wish to participate in intercollegiate athletics must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA for consideration.

Does Alfred State College offer athletic scholarships?

Answer: 

The Alfred State athletic department is a NCAA Division III member.  Therefore, no consideration of athletic ability or athletic accomplishments will be considered in determining students' eligibility or financial aid packages.
