  • Anderson Attends Clinton Global Initiative

    For the second year in a row, Alfred State College President Dr. John M. Anderson attended the Annual Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) meeting in New York City as the guest of ASC alumnus B. Thomas Golisano,’62, the founding sponsor of the event.

  • Dayton is Counter Professional of the Year

    Alfred State College students, as well as graduates, are ready to hit the ground running. Thomas Dayton, a first-semester student in the online automotive parts technology program, is Counterman magazine’s Counter Professional of the Year.

  • Jessica Clayson, class of '07

    When Jessica graduated from Alfred State’s CAD program she went right to work as a designer for Praxair, the largest industrial gases company in North and South America. The company serves the aerospace, chemicals, electronics, energy, food and beverage, healthcare, manufacturing, and metals industries.

  • Kell Orlando - Olympic Dreams

    Kell Orlando (Seneca Falls) is not your ordinary Alfred State College student.  Orlando, a freshman motor sports technology major taking classes on the Wellsville campus, has his sights set on one day representing the USA in the Olympics on the curling ice.

  • Caroline Baker, class of '07

    Caroline M. Baker, RHIT, a 2007 graduate of Alfred State College's health information technology/medical records program, has found career nirvana at Duke University Hospital (Durham, NC) where she serves as HIM manager.

  • Garippa Named Educator of the Year

    John Garippa, the 2008 Educator of the Year (second from right), was recognized for his achievement at the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) Conference.

  • ASC Takes First Place in National BUV Competition

    Five baccalaureate-level mechanical engineering technology seniors at Alfred State, under the guidance of their project advisers, Dr. Edward Tezak, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor, and Ray Gleason, instructional support technician, captured first place in the eighth annual national BUV (basic utility vehicle) competition held in Indianapolis.

  • Presidential Inauguration

    Dr. John M. Anderson was installed as Alfred State College's 11th president on October 16th, 2008.

  • Conroy Parchment, class of '05

    Conroy Parchment graduated from Alfred State in 2001 with an AOS degree in Building Trades: Building Construction and in 2005 with a BT degree in Construction Management Technology. Today he is a project manager for Rodgers Builders, one of the largest health care construction companies in the nation.

  • Doug Acomb '78 & Andy Smilinich '00

    A new era of Alfred State College athletics is on the verge of a beginning with the opening of the college's brand new on-campus athletic complex. The construction of the project was spearheaded by two Pioneer alums, Doug Acomb and Andy Smilinich of Babcock Enterprises Ltd.

  • Matt Hewitt, Class of '06

    Some athletes seem to have a golden pathway to the pros. Matt Hewitt's football career has had many twists and turns as he pursues his dream of playing professional football.

    Hewitt, a graduate of Englewood (NJ) High School, came to Alfred State College in 2004 as a quarterback. Before even thinking about taking a snap under center the Pioneers coaching staff decided to take advantage of Hewitt's athleticism and moved him to the defensive side of the ball.

  • Alumnus Gary Moore '76 Gives Back

    “The track and cross country programs can always use something to improve them; sometimes those ‘somethings’ are not part of the budget for the sport. I’m hoping that this gift will help the program get those things to enhance it and help keep the program viable for years to come.”

    Most Americans manage to achieve some level of the American dream: a house, a car, a career, a family. However, it seems as if the American Dream for the 21st century is to retire young while you still have the time to enjoy it. Most people fall short of this ideal, but at least one Alfred State College graduate managed to pull it off by age 40!
  • Emily Packard Durbin, class of '65

    Her love of science and math and the advice of a family friend led Emily Packard Durbin ('65 MLT) first to Alfred State College and eventually to the ranks of upper management at one of America's largest money management companies, Putnam Investments, in Boston.

    It was a different Alfred State College in those days. There was only one campus building, and that was located across the street from the current ASC campus at Alfred University. There were fewer students as well, and when it came to female students, well, they were practically non-existent.

    Jamie Hetzelt is the proud and happy, if sometimes exhausted, owner of the "Sweet Beginnings" bakery which she and husband Darren Wells launched as a celebration of their first wedding anniversary.
