Alfred State, in partnership with Alfred University and Alfred residents, has announced a week-long series of events planned in celebration of Earth Day. The events, which begin on Sunday, April 21 and run through Sunday, April 28, include movie showings, service opportunities, outdoor activities, and social functions.

Alfred State’s Dining Services Taco Bell location has been rated #1 nationwide in Taco Bell’s Voice of the Customer Program. The Taco Bell operation on campus is managed by Michael Murray of Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services, Inc.

Alfred State’s exclusive vendor of campus dining, vending and transportation, ACES (Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services), has been awarded the 2012 Outstanding Multimedia/Emerging Technology award by the National Orientation Director’s Association. This is the second year ACES has earned the annual NODA distinction which recognizes excellence in the development of tools designed to help colleges and universities provide effective orientation services to new students.

Dining Services is on a Winning Streak

In May 2012, ACES brought home some more hardware in the form of another gold award from NACUFS for a catered special event at the Lake Lodge. The Dining Services team is part of Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services Inc. (ACES), the not-for-profit corporation that provides dining services on campus.

Alfred State’s dining services is on a winning streak. After winning a gold award in 2011 from the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) for a Residential Dining special event, in April 2012 they grabbed a regional finalist position in the New York State Beef Council’s Best New York Burger contest. Now in May 2012 they are bringing home some more hardware in the form of another gold award from NACUFS for a catered special event at the Lake Lodge.

The Terrace Competes in State-wide Best Burger Restaurant Contest

“We love using local products, and our new signature burger highlights some of the best beef from right in our own backyard,” said Karen Canne, director of Dining Services. “Bron has cooked up a burger that is a perfect blend of East-West cuisine that we’re proud to serve to our customers.”

Juicy beef burgers take center stage in the New York Beef Industry Council’s 2012 Best Burger Restaurant competition, and the Dining Services team at Alfred State is bullish on bringing home the prize. The contest winner will be selected from online votes placed between Feb. 1 and March 15, 2012.

Rose’s Tan Joins Successful Campus Town Partnership

The off-campus program is a partnership between the college and area businesses managed by Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services (ACES). This is the third year of the program and Rose’s Tan is the 14th partner to join.

Rose’s Tan in Hornell has joined the Alfred State College Campus Partner program which allows students to use their Campus Card debit account at area businesses who participate in the program.
