| Computer Science | Associate in Science (AS) |
The computer science program at Alfred State College was one of the originally established programs in the SUNY (State University of New York) system. It is a comprehensive program, which includes both the study of the underlying theories of computing as well as the specific applications of information manipulation and problem solving. |
| Construction Engineering Technology | Associate in Applied Science (AAS) |
The technical education in this program is a well designed balance of theoretical and laboratory studies, providing the graduate with a broad knowledge of civil engineering technology and the construction fields. This training provides the background which enables a person to progress to advanced technical and supervisory positions in the industry, and reflects the changes occurring in the construction industry due to expanding computer technology and use of electronically controlled equipment. |
| Construction Management Engineering Technology | Bachelor of Science (BS) |
The program has a series of technical courses designed to familiarize the graduate with all aspects of construction management; a series of related courses in math, science, and several business courses which give the graduate a broad-based education that will provide the skills needed in a leadership role in today's construction business. |
| Court and Realtime Reporting | Associate in Applied Science (AAS) |
This program, approved by the National Court Reporters Association, prepares students for careers as official, freelance, realtime reporters, and captioners. Jobs are available for competent court reporters to work in all fields of reporting, including realtime and closed captioning for the hearing impaired. |
| Court Reporting and Captioning | Certificate (Cert) |
This program prepares students for careers as official, freelance, realtime reporters, and captioners. Jobs are available for competent court reporters to work in all fields of reporting, including realtime and closed captioning for the hearing impaired. |
| Culinary Arts | Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) |
The courses train each student in the principles applied to culinary arts. The goal is to prepare men and women for supervisory trainee positions, food production positions or culinary arts positions which require special skills and knowledge of food, business, and human relations. By learning the fundamental culinary principles basic to the food service industry and employing the techniques of food planning, preparation, and supervision in the lab classes, the students develop skills, confidence, and judgment. |
| Culinary Arts-Baking, Production & Management | Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) |
To meet the demand for skilled bakers, the program incorporates 1,350 hours of hands-on production experience, of which approximately 80 percent is concentrated in bakery training. The classroom includes detailed instruction in methods, ingredients, measurements, controls, equipment, and merchandising. The production for breakfast, lunch, and dinner requirements are built into one daily schedule. |
| Digital Media and Animation (AAS) | Associate in Applied Science (AAS) |
The emerging field of computer imaging and animation is impacting virtually every industry and profession. The digital media and animation program provides students with a broad range of technical, creative, and problem solving skills to facilitate their search for a baccalaureate program or employment in new media and animation. At the core of the program is a four-semester sequence of studio courses that enhance individual artistic creativity and provide instruction in the traditional arts and industry standard computer graphics software. |
| Digital Media and Animation (BS) | Bachelor of Science (BS) |
The emerging field of computer imaging and animation is impacting virtually every industry and profession. The digital media and animation program provides students with a broad range of technical, creative, and problem-solving skills to facilitate their employment in new media and animation. At the core of the program is an eight-semester sequence of studio courses that enhance individual artistic creativity and provide instruction in the traditional arts and industry standard computer graphics software. Students are required to enter a minimum of two (2) film festivals to meet graduation requirements. View students' work in the digital media and animation photo gallery. |
| Drafting/CAD (Computer-Aided Drafting) | Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) |
The drafting/CAD (computer-aided drafting) program provides students with the CAD skills and knowledge to qualify for entry-level positions in a wide variety of industries. During the first year, students focus on gaining a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of CAD drafting, tolerancing, manufacturing processes, and mathematics. The senior year is devoted to a specific drafting/CAD discipline which the student selects: model building & process piping or technical illustration. |
