Physical and Life Sciences - Facilities

The department offers students the opportunity to use state-of-the-art equipment in laboratories that simulate real world settings. Demonstration of competencies is required as is the ability to use critical thinking skills to solve problems using a team approach.

Students participate in clinical off-campus internships for the health information technology and coding and reimbursement specialist certificate programs. Depending on student interest, internships and directed study experiences are possible in other program areas.

Some health care organizations require students practicing in their agencies to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination or sign a declination statement as a condition of practicing in the facility. The Hepatitis B vaccination is a safe and effective method of preventing Hepatitis B infection. Questions about this health facility vaccination requirement should be directed to the chair of the Physical and Life Sciences Department, Allied Health Building, (607) 587-3672.
