The Information Technology Department offers both associate and bachelor degrees. Computer information systems is an associate of applied science program which allows graduates to enter the job market at the end of two years or continue their education in an associated bachelor's program. Computer science is an associate of science degree program which is designed for transfer into a bachelor of science degree in computer science.
There are three degrees in information technology: network administration, Web development and application software development. These bachelor of technology degrees are designed to allow for employment in the rapidly expanding information technology industry. Students may enter this program as freshmen or transfer in as juniors from related associate degree programs. Students have transferred from the above two associate degree programs as well as associate degree programs at other colleges. Articulation agreements have been developed with several community colleges.
Equipment within the department has been updated for major labs in 2002 and 2003. Students are allowed access to state-of-the-art-software and hardware. At least 50 percent of most courses in the CISY programs will be taught in a lab environment to allow for important hands-on experience.
