The Experience Opportunity

Student feeding cowOur students gain practical experience handling the animals at the farm facility. All agriculture and landscape students participate in our Professional Practice program. Hands-on experience working with our crops, plants, animals, facilities, and equipment is gained through this program. Students are involved with all the enterprises relating to their field of study. Students leave our programs with a true "feel" for the industry they plan to enter upon graduation.

Student with Spike the dogStudents in Veterinary Technology spend a large quantity of time working hands on with animals from the local shelters that are used in the program.Veterinary technology students are required to complete a 120-hour preceptorship (work experience) which gives them real practical experience between completing their first year and graduation.

We also encourage our students to have fun and be proud of their facilities by participating in "Kiddie Ag Day" where local elementary school students are bused in and shown the wonders of the farm by student tour guides and by participating in "showmanship" where every interested student and faculty member gets the chance to experience the fun of showing numerous animals, from dairy cows to chickens, in front of a host of family, friends, and alumni.
