Description:
This course is designed to provide the student insight into the
behavior, care and management of farm animals. Dairy cattle, horses,
sheep, swine, goats and other animals will be discussed. Emphasis will
be placed on the practical aspects of veterinary nursing such as proper
handling, restraint, evaluation, medication, treatment, and examination
procedures that apply to farm animal species. Characteristics of the
major breeds, terminology, disease control measures, housing, and basic
management practices will also be covered.
