Retooling the Southern Tier $15 Million Grant
A partnership between four SUNY colleges, this grant will not only generate jobs and revenue but will also provide unprecedented local opportunities for training in advanced manufacturing. By 2022, Retooling the Southern Tier will introduce 2,340 jobs into the region, generating an estimated $26 million economic benefit for the area.
Alfred State was awarded $500,000 to create a highly energy efficient facility to train students in state-of-the-art sustainable manufacturing techniques. As part of a larger, statewide initiative, the grant empowers community, business, and academic leaders, as well as members of the public in each region of the state, to develop strategic plans specifically tailored to their region’s unique strengths and resources in order to create jobs and support economic growth. In Western New York, innovation and entrepreneurship are making the region a national leader again in advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and energy production.
