Alfred State College hosted Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), the New York Department of State (NYSDOS), and Southern Tier West Regional Development and Planning Board (STW) representatives on Wednesday, July 28, at the School of Applied Technology campus in Wellsville.
An appropriation of $500,000 was granted this week to Alfred State College pursuant to a request for funding to support a renewable energy technical training center. Now that the bill has been approved by the Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee and the full Senate Appropriations Committee, it will move forward to the Senate and Conference with the House and then to the President for signature.
Students and faculty of Alfred State College are working closely with Atlantic Richfield (AR), a BP-affiliated company, to design and install a solar-powered telemetry system to monitor water levels at a wetland treatment system created by AR at a former Sinclair Refinery in Wellsville.
